The scent of freedom “NOBIYAKA”

Discover "NOBIYAKA," a fresh, relaxing scent inspired by freedom. Featuring Akaito saffron, lotus, and Davana, this unique fragrance offers a delicate, bright aroma that soothes the spirit.

The meaning of “NOBIYAKA” is to free yourself and embrace freedom.

The creation of NOBIYAKA starts with visualizing the scent with a sketch. The center of the sketch signifies a Saffron volcano, growing from its bulb, the buds of Saffron grow bit by bit with blooming flowers and stamens reaching the sky above. The smell of muscone drifts in the air from the sea of clouds, while a celestial maiden with Biwa, a traditional Japanese string instrument, floats in the cloud.

The image of a bright scent that births freedom. With the aftermath of Covid, came our motivation to create a means of release through one push of a scent, which led to the creation of “NOBIYAKA”.

Our creation of a scent may come from an idea of its name, while some other times, may come from an image. For “NOBIYAKA”, the sketch came first that gave its name.Key scent:The key scents of “NOBIYAKA”

Image and Design

Visualization of scents:Our first inspiration was a sophisticated, clean, but unique scent that delicately spreads on your skin. Scent design:Inspired by the watery image of Lotus, we were introduced to the scent of Akaito Saffron grown in Japan.

As one of the spices that is regarded as a luxury, the smell intrigued us due to its potential and possibility. General Saffrons are made in Middle East, and its use in perfumes are mostly dark and heavy. However, Japan grown Akaito Saffron, like when used in Japanese, can be used delicately to give a light and brighter scent.

Moreover, the lotus scent adds a clean base, which brings forth other scents, similar to a broth bringing forth its ingredients in Japanese cuisine. The scent of fig was our first idea when thinking of the top note, but the scent of bitter greens overtake its fruity notes, while milking the clear liquid. As a solution, we opted for loquat instead. Both loquat flower and fruit give Anise scent, same as when eaten, which was a scent perfect for our vision.

With trials and errors, adding more scents became overly complicated. To keep the pureness, we repeatedly took out and added the ingredients to find the perfect balance that gave a lasting floral musk with hint of sandalwood.

Lastly, to finish with a hook, experimenting with many scents, we decided on DAVANA, a scent of plum that we loved. As a result, we created a fresh and relaxing scent of “NOBIYAKA”, conveying a buoyant spirit.

The initial sketch that started it all, inspired us with the scent, colors, and a movie.
